Title:Unit Commitment Engineer (Varies) POSITION CONCEPT: This position is responsible in the optimization of the daily unit commitment and dispatch of Tampa Electric's generating system, as well as conducting power resource reliability, transaction pricing and system economic evaluations for the company. A successful candidate possesses strong analytical skills and the ability to draw conclusions and make decisions with the best available information and some uncertainty. *Engineer Classification is multi-level, based on the qualifications guidelines as outlined in the Company's Engineer Career Path, Administrative Policy 2.13. A minimum classification of an Associate Engineer is required in this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Within the limits of authorized objectives, policies, procedures, plans, schedules and budgets, this position has the responsibility and commensurate authority to:
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an ABET accredited four-year college. Preferred: Master's level degree in business or technical field from a college accredited by the Commission on Colleges or ABET. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Preferred: Valid registration as a Florida Professional Engineer. EXPERIENCE: Required: Co-op or related Engineering experience. Related experience consists of: wholesale marketing, system planning, engineering, operations, PC rate-making or revenue requirements. Preferred: Four years of related experience consisting of powerplant operations, wholesale marketing, system planning, engineering, operations, PC rate-making or revenue requirements. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Required: Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Preferred: Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL and SharePoint and advanced knowledge of Excel (use of pivot tables, macros, etc.) WORK CONDITIONS: Requires working extended hours and weekends. Requires emergency management storm duty. High stress work environment. Frequent travel is required. COMPETENCIES:
