Job Requirements

At Fearless, this Senior Consultant collaborates with cross functional teams to align the technical vision, implementation, and quality of software systems across development, reliability, testing, and operations. This role will possess the skills to be able to bridge business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing at an advanced application level of proficiency. The Sr. Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while mentoring engineers, fostering collaboration, and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals.

The Impact You Will Create:

As a Senior Consultant for Engineering & Technical Services, you will serve as the Information Systems Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security, integrity, and compliance of large-scale information systems supporting one of our customers. This position requires deep expertise in cybersecurity operations, federal security frameworks, and risk management practices. You will oversee compliance with federal and CMS information security guidelines, proactively manage security operations, and ensure systems are designed, operated, and maintained in accordance with the Federal Government's Risk Management Framework (RMF). The role demands technical depth, analytical precision, and the ability to translate complex security requirements into actionable safeguards that protect critical government data and systems

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with customer information security requirements, the Federal Government's Risk Management Framework (RMF), and other applicable cybersecurity standards and policies.
  • Manage and coordinate security-related activities required to support system development and operational environments.
  • Implement and enforce security controls across infrastructure, applications, and networks to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks to information systems through regular analysis, audits, and testing.
  • Review and analyze security logs, monitor incidents, and initiate appropriate remediation or escalation activities as necessary.
  • Discuss and address issues such as data access requirements, security violations, and configuration changes with system users and administrators.
  • Analyze and modify plans, procedures, and measures to enhance the organization's overall information security posture.
  • Oversee events and processes related to system operations to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual security obligations.
  • Coordinate the execution of system and network security plans with technical teams, leadership, and external vendors.
  • Conduct and evaluate penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and system hardening activities to identify weaknesses and recommend mitigation.
  • Evaluate data risk, test system configurations, and validate the authenticity and relevance of security controls.
  • Manage and continuously improve security monitoring tools, including SIEM platforms, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), antivirus, and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Support audits, security assessments, and authorization activities in accordance with RMF and customer policies.
  • Provide cybersecurity expertise to development and operations teams to ensure security is embedded throughout the software lifecycle (DevSecOps).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative, risk-based solutions that balance security and mission delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted security advisor to stakeholders, effectively communicating risks, requirements, and recommendations in both technical and business terms.


Work Experience

Skills and Qualifications We Require at Fearless:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
  • Demonstrated experience in information security operations, risk management, and compliance within large-scale or federal environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing controls aligned with the NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and CMS-specific cybersecurity policies.
  • Proven expertise in security monitoring and incident response, including use of tools such as SIEMs, firewalls, proxies, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS).
  • Knowledge of network security, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, isolate, and resolve complex cybersecurity issues.
  • Ability to assess, document, and communicate risk findings and recommend technical and procedural mitigations.
  • Experience coordinating across development, security, and operations teams to ensure DevSecOps compliance and secure delivery pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively solution security challenges and provide consultative guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present security information clearly and concisely, including in high-stakes or time-sensitive settings. Proven ability to gain customer intimacy, influence stakeholders, and identify opportunities for organic growth or continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in or with federal government programs of similar size and complexity preferred.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is required.
  • Additional certifications such as CISM, Security+, or AWS Security Specialty are preferred.
  • SAFe Agile certification is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:

Minimum Salary: $114,844

Salary Midpoint: $149,299

Maximum Salary: $183,752

Hiring Range for Role: $114,844 - $148,000

*For part-time roles, the salary will be pro-rated based on the full-time equivalent salary ranges listed above.
