Inova Behavioral Health Center Fairfax is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist to join the CATS - IOP Merrifield team. Behavioral Health Therapist 1- Job Responsibilities:



  • The Behavioral Health Therapist 1 provides a range of mental health and/or substance use disorders therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
  • May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach.
  • Duties will be performed under the clinical supervision of an approved registered clinical supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, or EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health-related field.
  • Experience: Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment.
  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support required within 3months of hire
    • Vistelar required within 6 Months of hire

  • License: one of the following required within 5 years.


Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title identified by the specific licensing board within 4 months of hire.



  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC),
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP),
  • Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
