The Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development at FGCU oversees the daily operations of the student-athlete development program. This role involves organizing and managing various programs aimed at fostering career growth, personal leadership, and overall development among student-athletes. Responsibilities include coordinating initiatives such as personal enhancement, community service projects, leadership advancement workshops, and career readiness programs.
Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Oversees the daily operations within the student-athlete development area.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates curriculum and student-athlete development programming including personal enhancement, community service, leadership advancement, and career readiness.
- Provides information and guidance to student-athletes in college assisted resources and athletic, leadership, personal, and academic development in a collaborative and mentoring environment.
- Oversees student-athlete community engagement and outreach initiatives, including compliance approval, planning, execution, and tracking.
- Research, organize, plan, promote, execute, and evaluate workshops and events related to student-athletes in the area of Student-Athlete Development.
- Collects and analyzes data on activities and events to assess and report on program participation and effectiveness.
- Collects and prepares data and documentation to meet NCAA expectations for student-athlete development and annual attestation requirements; maintains reporting and documentation.
- Serves as primary staff support for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- Assists with the recruitment, hiring, and training of professional and OPS staff that assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of the functional area.
- Ensures all safety practices are followed in accordance with FGCU and NCAA policies, practices, and regulations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective operations.
- Serves as an academic coordinator to small caseload of student-athletes; supports student-athlete education plans for graduation, provides guidance to student-athletes regarding academic scheduling for upcoming terms and program/admissions requirements.
- Monitors student progress towards degree and sport eligibility status. Reports concerns to director, coach, and sport administrators.
Other Duties:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with campus departments to provide resources to student-athletes.
Additional Job Description Required Qualifications for Student-Athlete Development Coordinator Level I:
- This position requires either four years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Experience with computer systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Required Qualifications for Student-Athlete Development Coordinator Level II:
- This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Experience with computer systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of advising theory and models of development advising.
- Knowledge of state statutes and rules of higher education within the state of Florida.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures consistently.
- Skill and ability to provide attention to detail.
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in teaching or ability to present material to audience.
- Ability to learn and use academic advising-related technology, such as Microsoft Office, Banner, Degree Works, Appointment Manager, and Florida Shines.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.

Student-Athlete Development Coordinator Level I - Pay Grade 15 Student-Athlete Development Coordinator Level II - Pay Grade 16 Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Student-Athlete Development Coordinator I or Student-Athlete Development Coordinator II based on their qualifications.
