Flexibility Required: Must have ability to work 2nd (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, and/or 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM, based on business needs.

Job Description:

The Equipment Engineering Team supports optical manufacturing through equipment innovation, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance. We're seeking a candidate to perform and coordinate calibrations for tools and equipment tracked in Raytheon's calibration management system (ARAMIS). This position supports multiple optical manufacturing areas.

Job Duties:


  • Performing various calibrations on RF, electrical, mechanical, ESD and optical equipment.
  • Responsible to meet quality standards of calibrations and support quality audits.
  • Calibrates tools, Inspection, Test, & factory equipment in accordance with industry and company policies and command media.
  • Calibration of equipment, tools, and instruments across four factories in one location: Optical Fabrication, Diamond Point Turning, Optical Coating and Assembly/Test.
  • Collaborating with ad working alongside a team of experienced equipment technicians to support calibration. Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional relevant experience in calibration of tools, instruments, and equipment in a production or factory environment.
  • Experience calibrating one or more of the following equipment types: RF, electrical, mechanical, ESD, or optical equipment, etc.
  • Lab and asset management systems experience for calibration tracking.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills and be able to interface with persons of multiple disciplines and job functions.
  • Mathematical aptitude to work with SI Units, derived units, multipliers, and conversions.
  • Understands Traceability Standards and Hierarchy.
  • Knowledgeable about troubleshooting and know how to read electrical schematics.
  • Must be well-organized, proactive, have excellent time management skills, and be able to work well with others and on teams.
  • Candidates should demonstrate either significant hands-on calibration experience or hold relevant certifications (such as ASQ-CCT or equivalent). Either years of experience or formal certification will be considered highly important for success in this role.

Desired Skills:

  • ASQ - CCT (Certified Calibration Technician) or similar certification
  • Proven history of demonstrating initiative, persistence, and creativity in problem solving
  • Prior experience with Optics, Optical Alignment, or Optical Test Equipment
  • Excellent oral and written communications with ability to work with minimum direct supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Project
  • Knowledge of the optics industry.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Operates well as part of a team and can work overtime on occasion.

Physical Demands The work environment for this position is primarily within a manufacturing and laboratory setting. To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

Standing and walking: Ability to stand and move between work areas for extended periods during calibration activities.

Manual dexterity: Frequent use of hands, fingers, and tools to handle, adjust, or calibrate precision instruments and small components.

Lifting and carrying: Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment or components weighing up to 25-40 pounds occasionally.

Vision requirements: Must have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus for inspecting, measuring, and calibrating optical and electronic devices.

Fine motor coordination: Required for handling delicate optical and electronic equipment.

Bending, stooping, reaching: Occasional reaching above shoulder height or below waist level to access tools, equipment, or test benches.

Work environment: Exposure to standard manufacturing conditions including noise, mechanical parts, and use of safety equipment such as safety glasses and ESD protection.
