We're a leading civil engineering firm committed to excellence in major transportation, infrastructure, commercial and industrial development. Our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) team in Charlotte, NC is looking for a detail-driven, safety-focused Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to help us uphold the highest standards in structural integrity and quality assurance.

About The Role:

As a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), you'll play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of our most complex construction projects related to welding, bolt and steel connections performing non-destructive testing. The role is ideal for experienced inspectors ready to take on new challenges and responsibilities.



  • Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing: Conduct inspections and deploy non-destructive testing methods to uphold impeccable quality standards. A significant portion of field inspection time is spent performing non-destructive testing (NDT) duties such as ultrasonic inspection (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
  • Project Testing Assignments: Juggle testing assignments across projects, contributing to the success of each endeavor.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Maintain testing equipment in working order and calibration; can include managing field and laboratory equipment inventories, maintaining formal calibration records, and participating in quality systems audits.
  • Report Creation: Craft detailed reports to communicate findings effectively.



What You Bring:



  • A High School Diploma/GED
  • A minimum of 3 years of metals testing experience or an associate degree
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • Achievement of ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method
  • Safety, DDC, NDT, and/or Radiation Training
  • Experience in the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of welding processes, structural steel fabrication, and industry codes



Are You Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:



  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Climbing heights over 200 feet
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
