The Senior Mail Technician reports to general supervision by the Mail Center Supervisor and/or Manager, the Senior Mail Technician operates and maintains all of the automated mailing equipment in the unit. Responsible for oversight of mail and distribution projects, and assists in coordinating the staff and resources necessary for operation. Other duties include sorting mail, local video encoding keying, providing training to staff, as well as performing a variety of routine clerical functions.

Education:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent


Knowledge:



  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of postal/shipping regulations and mail center operations. Knowledge of automated postal equipment, shipping systems, personal computers and the use of word processing, database and spreadsheet software.


Skills:



  • Good mechanical inclination and the ability to operate automated sorting equipment, postage metering machines, and other various mailing equipment.
  • Must be skilled at set-up, basic maintenance and generating productivity reports. Ability to enter 1,750 keystrokes per hour in LVE.
  • Position requires solid communication and interpersonal skills to train staff, interact with customers and work independently in the various mail facilities on campus.


Work Experience:



  • A minimum of one (1) years postal and/or mail center experience.


Working Conditions:



  • Works in a generally good work environment where there is little discomfort due to dust and is subject to machine noise.
  • Position requires frequent movement and some prolonged standing to sort mail and/or operate machinery.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 60 to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires safe handling of power equipment that can cause injury and various solutions requiring special handling.
  • Position requires flexibility to deal with shifting job priorities or work in various sites.

Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
