The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Application Window Open date: November 7, 2025 Next review date: Tuesday, Jan 27, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Jan 27, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis is seeking highly motivated master's degree or doctorally prepared early career nurse practitioners to serve in a unique role that integrates a primary care transition to practice clinical experience with clinical teaching activities in a structured, guided learning environment. The APP fellow will be part of an accredited 12-month Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider transition to practice fellowship program. APP Fellows - Clinical Instructors must have completed their nurse practitioner program within 18 months of the start of the program on October 1, 2026, (educational program completion cannot be prior to April 1, 2025). The incumbent must be available to complete all hiring paperwork by September which includes in-person appointments at the Sacramento UC Davis Health Campus. Full time, 12-month positions at the Instructor rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series are available at UC Davis Health, which is located on a modern, 140-acre campus in Sacramento, California. Currently, the position offered is the primary care tract. This is a 12-month full-time, fully benefited, (at least 40 hours per week) contract position funded by a combination of Health Resources and Services Administration and clinical revenues. This opportunity is for NPs (family, women's health, pediatric primary care, psych-mental health, and adult gerontological primary care nurse practitioner applicants only). The program's goals and those of the grant funders are to increase the number of clinicians receiving quality primary care education and training in areas of unmet need throughout the state. Successful candidates will provide clinical services in contracted community-based clinics, including Federally Qualified Health Centers or UC Davis primary care or nurse-led mobile clinics in the greater Sacramento region, the Sierra foothills, or neighboring counties in Northern California. Additionally, this effort will include an immersive education curriculum with online advanced-learning modules and on-site training at UC Davis Health simulation centers. Teaching requirements, scholarly or creative activity, and professional service expectations will comprise the remaining time. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES: The APP Fellow - Health Sciences Clinical Instructor will also be involved in a limited scholarly activity and limited committee service commensurate with this position. CRITERIA: Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and may have experience or express a goal of practicing in an underserved setting or clinical teaching. A candidate for appointment in the HSCP Series shall be evaluated by the following criteria with the primary emphasis focused on clinical and clinically relevant teaching and patient care services. Graduation from an accredited family, women's health, pediatric primary care, psych-mental health, or adult gerontological primary care nurse practitioner program in the state of California with a master's or doctoral degree within 18 months of the start of the program (educational program completion cannot be prior to April 1, 2025). Applicants who are pursuing but will not have completed their doctoral degree by the start of the fellowship are eligible but must have completed the NP portion of their doctoral program (allowing them to take a national certification exam by the dates outlined in the Credentialing Documents Checklist) within the 18-month window stated above.
