Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Geological fieldwork such as soil and rock core logging; geologic mapping; geohazard assessments, drilling, and contractor oversight, under the supervision of an experienced and licensed professional.
  • Project planning and coordination including subcontractor procurement, sampling and health and safety plan development, project management support with client and regulatory interfacing.
  • Preparation of geologic maps, geologic cross sections, tables, and figures.
  • Preparation of technical reports, memoranda, work plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or other related geosciences. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, engineering geology, civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.G., C.E.G.) (preferred)
  • Ability and interest in obtaining professional licensure in the State of California. (valuable)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of related experience with geologic field work, geotechnical drilling, rock coring, or geologic mapping, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Experience with geographic information system (GIS) software. (valuable)
  • Experience in identification of geohazards. (valuable)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to project sites as needed. (required)
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $84,710/year / Maximum Salary: $110,125/year (San Diego, CA)
