Senior Engineering Project Lead

The Senior Engineering Project Lead is responsible for the schedule execution, Engineering quality, and project design cost to budget. She/he will assign tasks to the Engineering team to develop mechanical and electrical systems that meet customer technical/functional specifications.

What You'll Do:



  • Review customer design requests, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility & cost of requested system/product
  • Assists with project management (i.e. Obtain, evaluate competitive bids and negotiate with suppliers; Assist with production plans for projects, taking quality requirements and contract obligations into account)
  • Create production drawings, both structural and sheet metal to meet system design
  • Create and adhere to project schedules
  • Track and manage to budgets
  • Be the final check on drawings, and bill of materials for projects
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Engineering to handle Engineering issues that arise, department improvement plans, and setting the goals for the department.
  • Regularly provides equipment/system/process/training recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance. Follows thru to completion. Fully participates in continuous improvement activities
  • Resolves production problems that arise with manufacturing team
  • All other duties as assigned


What You'll Need:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred or relevant degree in Physics, Industrial Science or other technical discipline training/education/experience in mechanical &/or electrical design for systems/products/assemblies
  • Will develop designs using AutoCAD LT for 2D drawings and SolidWorks for 3D drawings
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in compressed air design, piping methodology, building designs adhering to IBC, NEC NFPA, OSHA, and other local regulation, sheet metal design, understanding of high/medium/low power distribution through transformers and switchgear, and working knowledge of machine control logic.
  • Demonstrate success in creating and executing to project schedules
  • Computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Smartsheet)
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual on projects
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail
  • Sense of urgency; responds to requests in a timely manner
  • Strong (email, phone, web and in person) communication and customer service skills. (Prior experience in a customer service role preferred)
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and training purposes may be required. 10%- 20% annually.
