Job Description

Cytoprep Technician III - West Hills, CA, Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 AM to 10:30 AM

Pay range: $21.80 - $23.85 / hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Under general supervision, the positionis proficient inall ofthe functions required of theCytopreparatoryTechnicianII. They are directly responsible for decision making,interacting, and reporting to the Cytology Prep Team Leader/Supervisor and/or Manager.



Responsibilities:

  • All job accountabilities and duties required of theCytopreparatoryTechnician II.
  • Accessions and processes Non-Gyn specimens and/orSurepathspecimens for microscopic evaluation.
  • This includes assigning accession numbers, Thin Prep Processing,Surepathprocessing,
  • running thestainers, changing reagents, andcoverslipping.
  • Prepares specimens for CT/NG testing.
  • Must render a gross description of all Non-Gyn specimens.
  • Responsible for assuring that all inventories are complete and appropriate supplies are ordered.
  • Follows all local,BusinessUnit and corporate safety policies and assures compliance of the Cytology Prep Lab.
  • Responsible for the completion of all quality control, safety, and preventative maintenance logson a daily basis.
  • Trains newCytoPrep techs in properCytopreparationtechniques and accessioning procedures.
  • Disposes and labels biohazard waste appropriately.
  • General problem solving
  • Will also identify TIQ's and problem specimens.
  • Maintains specimen identification and integrity throughout all processes of the department.
  • Must begin and complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other departments, colleagues, and clients in problem-solving.
  • Able to differentiate acceptable and unacceptable processing and staining of specimens.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Must have greatattention to details and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required WorkExperience:

Preferred Work Experience:



  • 3yearsof Anatomic Pathology experience preferred.
  • Anatomic Pathology experience is desirable but not required.


Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Handling of specimens and supplies.
  • Large amounts of standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Lifts and carries objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Work in a chemical environment.
  • Risk of exposure to infectious materials and the possibility of injury due to chemicals.
