Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, the A/V Systems Engineer Associate is responsible for the maintenance and support of Audio-Visual systems in the School of Communication. These systems include a radio station and its associated transmission infrastructure, complex multimedia labs, and classrooms.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support the computers, software, and infrastructure for WNUR-FM including computers, audio playback devices, audio matrix switchers, transmission software, portable audio recording equipment, and basic FM transmission systems
  • Provide support and service for classrooms, instructional computer labs, and A/V equipment in research labs
  • Assists in compilation and filing of required FCC documentation and paperwork, including EAS tests, transmitter readings, and operator logs.
  • Analyzes production and post-production system performance and resolves problems or makes appropriate recommendations to effectively manage all systems throughout their operational lifecycle
  • Maintain documentation for multi-media facilities in the School of Communication
  • Participate in a rotation of support for Saturday professional programs

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multi-media and RF radio systems;
  • Demonstrated expertise with audio/visual systems;
  • Strong familiarity with various forms of radio broadcast and associated tools, including automation systems and radio consoles;
  • Strong familiarity with RF signal format and workflows
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems and networking practices;
  • Strong skills in the following areas: organization, collaboration, problem solving, customer focus, and dependability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain respectful and effective working relationships with a variety of parties throughout the university community
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to assist in other areas of IT as required

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • More than two years of experience in college or professional FM radio;
  • Experience with Wheatstone consoles and software;
  • Experience with RCS automation systems;
  • Certifications from the FCC as an operator;
  • Experience with FCC requirements or filings;
  • Experience in a higher education environment

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • The ability to relate well to multiple members of the University community, including both students and faculty;
  • Strong skills in multi-tasking

Target hiring range for this position will be between $60,000-$73,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
