SUMMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Identifies potential coverage issues and refers claims to Claims Unit Leader as needed; Determines liability and evaluates damages of all exposures related to the claim; Documents findings of investigation; Interprets and applies the insurance policy to the exposures presented within each assigned claim; Analyzes claims to determine the nature of the loss, coverage provided, and scope of claim; Adheres to all state specific laws and regulations; Negotiates the settlement of claims within authorized levels; Manages assigned claims until resolution has been reached, with the exception of those requiring special handling; Escalates claims exceeding authority limits to supervisor; Provides effective and timely communication to all internal and external customers; Identifies exposures and establishes reserves on assigned claim files; Identifies and refers exposures requiring special handling (such as recovery, fraud, or escalation) in a timely manner; Creates and manages timely, clear and accurate documentation and work flow throughout the life of a claim in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures; Provides claim support under catastrophic circumstances as needed; Provides guidance and advice to less experienced claims representatives as needed; Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information); Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Completion of Licensing exam and continuing education requirements as necessary to secure and/or renew the licenses in assigned jurisdictions Successful completion of an internal special training program required for the additional types of claims (bodily injury) Five (5) or more years of experience in claims or related work experience Progress toward an insurance designation such as AIC/AIM/CPCU/SCLA programs SKILLS Excellent customer service skills Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills Strong organizational and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook We are proud to provide comprehensive, high quality employee programs to meet employees' needs now and in the future, including a very competitive financial package.
