Position Overview
We are seeking a professional and dependable Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to join our healthcare team. The PSR II serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing quality specimen collection and exceptional customer service in a clinical setting. This role involves performing phlebotomy procedures, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with all safety and quality standards. The PSR II will demonstrate leadership, strong communication skills, and a commitment to process excellence while representing the organization in a professional manner. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately, efficiently, and on schedule under the supervision of the area supervisor
Greet patients professionally and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence during specimen collection procedures
Draw quality blood samples from patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, while adhering to established safety and procedural protocols
Verify patient identity, demographics, and specimen labeling to ensure accuracy and compliance
Prepare, label, and handle specimens according to established protocols to maintain sample integrity for laboratory testing
Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports as required
Follow all infection control, safety, and quality assurance procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment
Promote a positive image of the organization through superior customer focus and professionalism
Travel to and provide coverage at multiple collection sites as needed, sometimes on short notice
Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to accommodate weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as required
Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and quality service delivery
Job Requirements
Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance and dependability
Must comply with all company policies, including dress code, safety, and confidentiality standards
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record (if applicable)
Capable of traveling to multiple locations with short notice as needed
Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center or equivalent clinical setting preferred
Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred
Keyboarding and data entry experience required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST
On-site position; remote work is not available
COVID-19 vaccination not required
Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned work location
Must have reliable transportation to and from the site (public transit, Uber, or rideshare not acceptable)
Excessive tardiness or absenteeism will result in termination
Rate of pay is based on verified years of direct phlebotomy experience (overlapping roles will not be double-counted)
Required screenings and immunizations: 10-panel drug screen, Hepatitis B, MMR, and TB
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
