Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) to serve as the primary point of contact for patients during specimen collection. This position is responsible for performing skilled phlebotomy procedures, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining full compliance with all safety and procedural standards. The PSR I ensures each patient experience is professional, positive, and handled with care while safeguarding patient confidentiality and accuracy of information. Working under the direction of the area supervisor, this role upholds organizational standards of service, reliability, and process excellence.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties in accordance with established practices and safety procedures



  • Accurately label, document, and maintain records for all specimens and related activities



  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment at all times



  • Provide exceptional customer service by fostering trust, comfort, and clear communication throughout the collection process



  • Execute daily responsibilities with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail while meeting performance and timeliness standards



  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and support team goals



  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements



  • Promote a professional and positive image of the organization in all patient and client interactions




Job Requirements




  • Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment



  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience



  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision



  • Strong computer literacy and accurate data entry skills



  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime when required



  • Commitment to confidentiality, patient privacy, and professional conduct




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required



  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred



  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)




Work Experience




  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy or related healthcare experience required



  • At least 1 year of direct phlebotomy experience preferred



  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred



  • Demonstrated keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
