Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to join our healthcare team. The PSR II serves as the primary representative of the organization to patients, ensuring a professional and compassionate experience during specimen collection. This position is responsible for performing high-quality phlebotomy procedures, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining compliance with safety, confidentiality, and quality standards. The PSR II will demonstrate leadership, reliability, and process excellence while supporting multiple patient service center locations as a floater. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately, efficiently, and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
Collect quality blood samples from patients-including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections-following all safety and procedural standards
Verify patient information and ensure all specimens are correctly labeled in the patient's presence
Maintain accurate documentation and required records in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards
Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all times
Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive, trust-based experience for patients
Adhere to all safety, infection control, and confidentiality protocols
Demonstrate flexibility by traveling to multiple patient service center locations to provide coverage as needed
Maintain reliable communication with supervisors and promptly report any scheduling or operational issues
Promote a positive and professional image of the organization to patients, clients, and coworkers
Exhibit strong judgment and decision-making within the scope of established procedures
Job Requirements
Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities effectively
Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record (required for floaters)
Ability to travel between assigned locations with minimal notice; mileage reimbursement provided between sites (not from home)
Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Proficient in data entry and computer systems
Adherence to all company policies, including dress code, safety, and performance standards
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred
Strongly preferred: customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment
Demonstrated keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, shifts may vary between 5:30 AM-2:30 PM, 6:00 AM-3:00 PM, or 6:30 AM-3:30 PM; rotational Saturdays required
Position is on-site and not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination is not required
Candidates must live within a 20-25 minute commute of assigned worksites
Must have reliable transportation; rideshare or public transit options are not considered acceptable
Must maintain punctuality and attendance standards; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination
Compensation rate is based on verified direct phlebotomy experience (overlapping roles will not be double-counted)
Floaters are eligible for mileage reimbursement between assigned sites only
