Position Overview
We are seeking a professional and patient-focused Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) to join our healthcare team. The PSR I represents the face of the organization to patients, ensuring a positive, compassionate, and efficient experience during specimen collection. This role involves performing phlebotomy procedures, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict compliance with all safety, confidentiality, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately, efficiently, and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor
Draw quality blood samples from patients-including pediatric and geriatric populations-following all established safety and procedural guidelines
Explain procedures clearly and professionally to ensure patient comfort and understanding
Accurately label, document, and handle specimens to ensure sample integrity for laboratory testing
Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards
Ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times by following infection control and safety procedures
Demonstrate reliability and attention to detail while meeting performance and timeliness expectations
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and patients to support efficient operations and teamwork
Promote a positive image of the organization through professionalism and quality patient care
Maintain flexibility to accommodate staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
Job Requirements
Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach
Proficient in data entry and computer systems
Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 6 months of experience required; 1 or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred
Demonstrated proficiency in keyboarding and data entry required
