Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and dependable Assistant Plant Supervisor to support daily warehouse and production operations at our Somerville, New Jersey facility. This full-time role, scheduled from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, serves as the right hand to the Plant Supervisor, helping oversee a 15-person team to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and product quality. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, organized, and eager to contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced metal processing environment. Job Responsibilities Assist the Plant Supervisor with daily oversight of production, warehouse, and shipping operations Coordinate team workflow for receiving, processing, and shipping metal coils Support the setup and operation of the leveling line to remove imperfections and prepare coils for distribution Monitor production quality and accuracy, performing light quality control checks and documentation as needed Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Utilize computer systems to track inventory, update schedules, and maintain production reports Support the implementation of process improvements to enhance productivity and operational efficiency Provide direction, support, and motivation to team members to ensure goals and deadlines are met Communicate effectively with the Plant Supervisor and team to address operational challenges promptly Job Requirements Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment required Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using or maintaining material handling or production equipment Strong computer skills, including familiarity with scheduling and inventory tracking systems Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Experience in an industrial, metals, or warehouse environment preferred Education High school diploma or equivalent required Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, production management, or related fields preferred Work Experience Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role Additional Job Details Location: Somerville, New Jersey Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM Pay Range: $25-$27 per hour, based on experience Employment Type: Full-time Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily operations Adherence to all company safety, attendance, and performance policies required
