POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the quality assurance and control functions across paper manufacturing and converting plants (paper mills and paper conversion) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. This role ensures that paper making, and conversion operations meet: Quality standards, regulatory compliance, customer specifications, internal benchmarks, industry regulations, and continuous improvement goals. The manager will lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving, continuous improvement, and audits, while also serving as the key liaison between the production teams and customers regarding quality matters. This is a hands-on role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, standardize, and monitor quality systems across regional paper mills and conversion sites, ensuring alignment with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Monitor product quality metrics and KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and improvement opportunities across all sites.
  • Review and analyze quality metrics and trends; prepare and present reports for senior leadership.
  • Serve as the regional representative in customer quality meetings and audits.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of quality processes at each site to ensure consistency, including, but not limited to, raw material inspections, in-process controls, final product checks, and packaging.
  • Ensure compliance with all standards, regulations, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Act as liaison with vendors and Research and Development for qualifications of raw materials and introduction of new products.
  • Work closely with plant managers, production, suppliers, sales and customer quality representatives concerning issues with quality control and assures that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and complaints in the region leading investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative action processes for quality-related issues.
  • Facilitate training programs and skill development for manufacturing personnel.
  • Lead quality-related efforts in new product introductions, process changes, or equipment upgrades within the region.
  • Mentor site Quality Technicians when applicable.
  • Conduct performance reviews when applicable.
  • Primary point of quality control contact for NAM paper.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Engineering or Paper Science preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in paper converting, pulp & paper, or packaging.
  • Experience and background in paper making or converting processes: slitting, rewinding, sheeting, etc.
  • Willing to learn and demonstrate can-do attitude and to perform hands-on duties.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal guidance from management.
  • Able to read, write, and speak English with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Analysis).
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of understanding with all related testing equipment.
  • Experience with ERP and QMS software systems, SAP a plus.
  • MS Office experience.
  • Certification in Six Sigma and CQE, a plus.
  • Able to travel frequently between Reading, PA and Modena, PA sites with infrequent travel to Hanover, PA site.
