THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The employee in this job plans, develops, directs, and evaluates programs in the registration of for-profit and nonprofit corporations and regulation of charitable organizations, professional solicitors, and fundraising counsels that operate in Pennsylvania. Work involves overseeing the imposition of fines and penalties upon non-compliant or fraudulent charitable organizations, solicitors, and fundraisers; coordinating the investigation or audit of charitable organizations suspected of fraudulent activity; developing, implementing, and evaluating operational policies and procedures to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, retrieval, and public disclosure of corporate and charitable organization filings, consistent with statutory requirements; coordinating and directing consumer education and outreach initiatives; and participating in speaking engagements before consumer groups, professional organizations, the media, and the public. Work also involves participating in the review and recommendation of legislative changes impacting corporations and charitable organizations; serving as a liaison with executive staff members, legal counsel, and legislators; providing business requirements and feedback to information technology staff responsible for the bureau's system development and maintenance; and coordinating with other agencies concerning violations of law that are beyond the purview of the Department of State.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of professional managerial or staff work in the administration of a corporation, charitable organization, or public organization that includes three years of supervisory experience, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional experience and training that includes three years of supervisory experience.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
