Description and Requirements

Sr. Industrial Engineer

Location: Whitsett, North Carolina

Job Type: Regular Full-time

Education: Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent (preferred Masters)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Industrial Engineer to lead optimization of industrial and manufacturing processes in Server Manufacturing to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety while reducing costs. They mentor Jr. Engineers, develop project plans, and collaborate with other departments to implement changes and ensure projects adhere to budgets and schedules. Ideal candidates will work with minimal direct supervision and will concurrently handle and prioritize many responsibilities within the Manufacturing Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Optimization & Engineering Support

  • Analyze current manufacturing workflows and identify bottlenecks across server production lines.
  • Design and implement optimized layouts, material flow strategies, and takt time balancing.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions and process documentation.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Kaizen events and apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to drive measurable improvements.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, yield, cycle time, and labor efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable process changes.

Project Management

  • Manage engineering projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with production goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, logistics, and IT teams to support new product introductions and process changes.
  • Track project milestones, budgets, and resource allocation.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Use data analytics tools to evaluate process performance and identify trends.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for leadership on improvement initiatives and operational metrics.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all engineering solutions comply with OSHA, ISO, and internal safety standards.
  • Support ergonomic assessments and risk mitigation strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing environments preferably electronics or server manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process simulation tools.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, SFDC) and data analysis software (Excel, Power BI, Minitab).

Preferred Qualification:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in parallel in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with server components and rack-level integration.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
  • Hands-on experience with automation and digital manufacturing technologies.
