The Role: Lead Foreman

We're looking for a Lead Foreman to deliver excellent customer service while supporting our service technicians in the field and working closely with our Area Operations Manager. You'll be responsible for executing service and maintenance work by ensuring labor, quality, and customer needs are met. This role combines hands-on HVAC expertise with team leadership, giving you the chance to make a real impact while staying connected to the tools and the customer.

This role reports to Joel Krueger - Seattle Area Operations Manager and works alongside a collaborative service team across our growing business.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and mentor HVAC service technicians in daily work.
  • Work hands-on in the field, performing service, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance on diagnostics, maintenance, and major repairs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of airside (constant volume, VAV, series-parallel, etc.) and waterside systems (hot water, chilled water, condenser water, etc.).
  • Promote and enforce safety standards; assist in investigations and maintain compliance.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for customers, resolving service issues and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Support technician performance by providing feedback, coaching, and training.
  • Partner with the AOM and Service Coordination to plan and assign work.
  • Help onboard, train, and develop new technicians.
  • Perform journey-level HVAC service work when needed.
  • Uphold MacDonald-Miller's Operating Guidelines, Operational Beliefs, and Customer Commitment.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven ability to lead or mentor field crews.
  • 7+ years' experience in commercial HVAC service.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and technical expertise.
  • Clear and professional communication with customers and colleagues.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active Journeyman membership in good standing with an affiliated union.
  • Required: Seattle Refrigeration License & Universal Refrigerant Handling License (City of Seattle Boiler License preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Reliable attendance and work history.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of WISHA/OSHA job site safety requirements.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, and drive for extended periods.
  • Work in varied environments: rooftops, ladders, crawl spaces, unheated areas, and all weather conditions.
  • Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues in all situations.

Benefits

  • Compensation & Benefits: Salary and benefits administered by the local union. Anticipated annual compensation: $130,000-$160,000.
  • Location: Base office at our SODO Office - 4766 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134.
