What to Expect

Infrastructure Engineering is looking for an innovative Chemical Process Engineer to join our Process Systems Design team. The process design team drives to create the factory of the future by bringing conceptual designs to life, producing cutting-edge detailed design of chemical and utility systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and a broad set of process engineering tools to solve technical problems and create novel detailed designs for a wide range of systems including bulk gas storage/distribution, chemical processing and distribution, high purity water (RO/DI), cryogenics, viscous fluids, flammable fluids, and thermal oil systems, involving unit operations such as pump and compressor systems, reverse osmosis, distillation, heat transfer fluid systems, etc.
  • Provide process engineering support to operations to help resolve process bottlenecks and other long-standing issues
  • Provide technical expertise to the engineering/design team and other groups within organization as a subject matter expect (SME), mentor other engineers
  • Lead scope development and produce basis of design documentation
  • Develop PFDs, P&IDs and 3D pipe designs, including pressure drop analysis, Aspen simulation where required, pressure relief valve calculations, and Pipe-Flo modeling
  • Produce specifications including equipment, piping and valve selection and sizing, material compatibility analysis, etc.
  • Generate process engineering calculations and documentation, including: pressure drop analysis, process system modelling, relief valve selection, etc.
  • Develop sequence of operations, control narratives, cause & effect matrices
  • Lead or facilities in reactive chemical process hazard evaluations and HAZOP reviews of PSM-covered and other hazardous chemical systems
  • Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point of contact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution. This is not an on-call position

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ year of experience in process design, process improvement or operations within a high-tech industry such as semiconductor, specialty chemical, solar, battery, etc. A combination of experience with an owner operator and an EPC firm is preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Nevada or the ability to obtain comity licensure within 3 months is strongly preferred
  • Subject matter expertise related to OSHA requirements for hazardous systems and maintenance access, ASME pressure vessel and piping codes, NFPA codes such as NFPA 30 and 55, and relevant building codes
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, and Pipe-Flo. Design experience in Revit is a big plus
  • Ability to adapt, multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with evolving changes in design requirements
  • A positive, "do the impossible" attitude and ability to communicate with peers and stakeholders at all levels including piping designers, stress engineers, other engineering disciplines, customers, and executives
