Job Title: Senior Engineering Project Manager Location(s): Austin, TX Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Engineer Project Manager to join our Texas site, which supports both R&D and manufacturing operations. This role will focus on sustaining R&D projects for Varian products, including Intelliblade (microwave ablation) and cryotherapy systems for cancer treatment. All positions are new (not backfills) and require an on-site presence, with some flexibility during onboarding and training. This is a hands-on role; remote work is not standard. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage sustaining R&D projects from initial assessment through implementation and commercialization. Coordinate cross-functional teams and external suppliers to ensure successful project execution. Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, and stakeholder communication strategies. Formulate project proposals and support business case development for potential initiatives. Ensure compliance with design controls, internal procedures, and quality system requirements. Oversee project execution, monitor progress, and provide actionable insights to leadership. Perform technical risk management, change management, and multi-project coordination. Collaborate closely with engineering disciplines and regional engineering units. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and ensure customer and business success. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Software, Electrical) or other STEM field (Biology, Chemistry, etc.). 5+ years of project management experience, ideally transitioning from an engineering background. Medical device industry experience strongly preferred. Experience in sustaining R&D and/or manufacturing engineering. Strong knowledge of design controls, DHF documentation, and change management. Skilled in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, or Monday.com. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders. Strong business acumen, analytical ability, and problem-solving mindset. PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred. Ampcus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
