Position Summary |
The Department of Pediatrics seeks to hire a Clinical Faculty Position to join the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (
GPAM) at the University of North Carolina. This position will provide clinical care to the pediatric and adolescent population in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. This position will work closely with the Section Heads of General Pediatrics, Child Maltreatment as well as Adolescent Medicine within
GPAM. This open rank, open track position, with
FTE between 0.5 and 1.0 is appointed in the School of Medicine at
UNC Chapel Hill.
Clinical efforts may include a combination of the following:
- Pediatric diagnostic care, with potential for medical education and academic activities.
- Child Abuse inpatient consultations at the UNC Medical Center.
- Inpatient care at the Youth Behavioral Hospital (YBH) in Butner, NC. The YBH facility is a newly established and innovative 50 plus patient child and adolescent psychiatric hospital with four individual specialized units serving children and families. This faculty member will function as a core member of the medical team providing services for adolescents at YBH.
As a clinical faculty member, this person will join a program that includes board certified general pediatricians, child abuse pediatricians, adolescent medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, and LCSWs. A percentage of this position will involve medical education and supervision of advanced practice providers; a successful applicant will have a history demonstrating expertise in this set of skills.
The
GPAM division is one of the largest divisions in the Department of Pediatrics and includes Primary Care, Complex Care, Adolescent Medicine, and Child Abuse pediatrics. The division has a nationally known and productive research program and faculty in addition to a long record of teaching excellence.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
M.D.; Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Clinical experience or training in outpatient and inpatient settings. Experience in medical education and/or contributions to academic scholarship. |
