Overview

The International Banking Team Leader is responsible for managing and developing a team of international bankers, providing leadership, direction, and support to achieve sales, service, and portfolio objectives in alignment with CNB's strategic goals. The role oversees daily operations, establishes team priorities, and ensures compliance with applicable banking regulations. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Team Leader serves as a Relationship Manager, directly managing client portfolios, expanding client relationships, and maintaining service excellence.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    Provides leadership and direction to a team of international bankers; manages staffing, performance, development, and coaching to ensure achievement of sales, service, and portfolio objectives.

  • Serves as Relationship Manager for assigned clients; manages portfolios including credit, deposit, and treasury management solutions, with emphasis on international banking needs.

  • Consistently achieves team and individual sales goals, including deposits, loans, and other applicable products.

  • Oversees business development activities within the team, establishing strategies, reviewing pipelines, and providing direction to maximize opportunities.

  • Independently expands existing relationships and solicits new business through client referrals, networking, and targeted prospecting to support the Bank's strategic objectives.

  • Acts as client advocate in structuring and securing suitable credit and cross-selling additional products and services.

  • Generates proposals and develops tailored sales strategies to address complex client needs.

  • Evaluates business, management, industry, financial, and structural risk; documents assessments in credit approval documents as required.

  • Partners with senior management to identify market opportunities, client needs, and competitive positioning.

  • Ensures compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices in all international banking activities.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with clients, internal partners, referral sources, and external stakeholders to support retention and acquisition.

  • Provides regular reporting and analysis of team performance, pipeline activity, and results to senior management.

  • Manages budgetary and expense considerations for the team, ensuring alignment with established financial expectations.

  • Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence within the international banking team.

  • Participates in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank's presence and business opportunities.

  • Maintains expert-level knowledge of all Bank products and services; participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Meets the requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act and is expected to follow all related procedures, including notifying Human Resources of any changes in current status.



Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of banking experience, including international banking or related business lines within financial services or a regulated industry.
  • 2-4 years of Leadership experience managing bankers or relationship managers in a sales-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success in portfolio management, credit structuring, and business development, achieving sales and growth objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of international banking products, services, and regulatory requirements.

  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop a team to achieve sales and service goals.

  • Advanced relationship management and business development skills, including the ability to expand existing relationships and originate new business opportunities.

  • Strong credit and financial analysis skills, with ability to evaluate client needs, assess risk, and structure appropriate solutions.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; able to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies, manage pipelines, and drive results in alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to balance client-facing responsibilities with team leadership.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with CRM or banking systems preferred.



Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, International Business, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
