ACCOUNTING MANAGER - PHOENIX, AZ (HYBRID)

Sares Regis Group is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ!

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for monitoring the execution of day-to-day accounting and financial operations for third party clients. This position also requires a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to articulate them to various audiences. This position also requires accuracy, attention to detail, promote a customer service focus and strong business acumen.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage a team of accounting professionals in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching and developing staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    Manages the operations of the property accounting team, which includes month-end close process, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and all financial functions of property accounting for various clients.
  • Perform financial statement reviews for assigned portfolio, providing guidance to accountants where needed.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations for assigned portfolio to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Ensure lenders payments, property taxes, and other taxes are recorded accurately and processed timely.
  • Assists with on-boarding and off-boarding assets, and any other transactions (e.g., refinancing).
  • Partner with operations to work with third party clients to resolve complex issues.
  • Oversees property level audits coordinating with audit and tax firms as needed.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by responding to requests from business leaders, operations' team members, and others related to accounts payable and accounting related items.
  • Identifies opportunities and areas for improvement, and offers suggestions and/or implements procedures, processes, or tools that improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Assumes and performs other tasks as directed by any person authorized to give such instructions or assignments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, and/or Finance or related fields. Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Minimum 3 years of real estate property management experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience developing and managing a professional staff.

Other Qualifications:

  • Occasional travel may be required to participate in business meetings, attend training programs, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all the daily responsibilities of this position.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively to prepare and explain financial data to business leaders and managers, team members, internal and external auditors, and other business contacts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and property management (e.g., Yardi, PayScan, MRI, One Site, Nexus, JD Edwards) programs to complete required reports.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and advanced working knowledge of email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Salary is $110,000-$115,000 plus bonus potential. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a 401(K) match, rental discounts depending on location, rental incentive and renewal compensation, and bonuses. Regular full time employees who work between 30-40 hours a week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, other voluntary benefits and vacation accrual. Sick time accrual is provided in accordance with law.
