WAVE is currently looking for a 1st shift Material Handler (Forklift) to join our team!

Join our team as a Forklift Operator. The Forklift/Heavy Machinery role is an hourly position. The person in this role will perform multiple tasks throughout the day to ensure safe and quality production. They are responsible for transporting material around the plant with a forklift and/or heavy machinery and prioritizing requests in order for production to run smoothly and efficiently

Schedule: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 6a to 1p

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily forklift mechanical inspections (training provided); ensure that equipment is working properly and report any problems.
  • Safely transport finished goods to inventory warehouse and follow proper stacking procedures.
  • Load/unload coil, pallets and other material from flatbed and box trailers.
  • Verify accuracy of inbound/outbound paperwork against actual shipped materials and, where applicable, enter information into computer systems.
  • Prepare damage reports for cartons scrap or replace material following standard operating procedures.
  • Follow pick lists and shipping invoices to prepare required number of units for shipment.
  • Develop load configuration for outbound carriers and following standard operating procedures for safe placement of finished goods or other material.
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Material Handling: Move and stage material as scheduled for optimum machine efficiency. Provide machine support by emptying scrap tubs and ensuring lines are cleared of finished product. Locate material into finished goods as needed. Provide the line with needed materials
  • Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.

Qualifications

  • Competent in basic math and computer skills
  • Must be able to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Must have good safety awareness and efficiency skills
  • Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • (Preferred) Knowledge and experience of machines in manufacturing environment, or similar
  • (Preferred) Forklift certification or 2+ years of experience in forklift operation

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent in General Studies

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds regularly. Occasionally required to handle heavier materials with the assistance of proper equipment or team lifting.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing in and out of forklifts. Requires the ability to transition between different work areas and levels, such as warehouse floors, loading docks, and trailers, while maintaining balance and stability.
  • Must have good visual acuity for reading paperwork, inspecting materials, and operating equipment safely, including depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Perform repetitive motions, such as gripping controls, turning, twisting, and handling materials during loading/unloading tasks.
  • Prolonged sitting while operating a forklift.
  • Reach at or above shoulder height to handle materials or operate controls.
  • Must be able to work in varying temperature conditions, including hot, cold, or humid environments, and tolerate dust, noise, and odors typical of a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to hear and respond to alarms, instructions, or other auditory signals critical to safety and task performance.
