We leverage advanced AI for highly adaptable and autonomous operation. As part of our Optimus Hardware Validation team, we're seeking an exceptional System Engineer to design and implement comprehensive tests at sub-system and system levels for hand validation. You'll develop innovative methodologies to ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of our cutting-edge robotic hand. This highly cross-functional role involves collaborating with design engineers, software developers, and controls experts to create efficient testing that delivers optimal results in minimal time. You will take direction from a senior engineer, while assuming full responsibility over the tests you design and run, providing summaries directly to teams. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in mechanical engineering with proven experience coding for physical systems and experience in designing, testing, debugging, and/or system integration. If you are passionate about robotics and possess the drive to tackle these technical challenges head-on, we invite you to be part of our team.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and execute tests for hands in system and sub-system level
- Analyze test data, perform root cause analysis for system-level failures, identify trends, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive resolutions and recommend design improvements
- Design and develop test fixturing, automation scripts to satisfy test plan requirements
- Document test procedures, results, and analysis clearly and concisely
- Assist with test planning and DFMEA activities for hand sub-systems
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience in designing, testing or debugging electromechanical systems or robotic systems, preferably within an industrial environment
- Understanding of engineering fundamental principles such as statics, thermodynamics, materials science, and circuits
- Strong modeling skill in CAD, preferably CATIA (3DExperience) with basic knowledge of GD&T
- Expertise in electrical sensors, actuators, test automation, motor controller operation, interfaces, and data acquisition systems are highly desirable
- Strong programming skills in Python (or strong programming skill in another language with familiarity with Python)
- Familiarity with concepts of robotic systems encompassing hardware and firmware components as well as communication protocols (preferably EtherCAT or CAN)
- Experience using data analysis tools and techniques to interpret results; proficiency in MATLAB, Python, JMP, or Minitab is preferred
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining clear documentation of your work
