HGA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our Minneapolis, MN office. This is an exciting opportunity for a design-sensitive, ambitious individual to contribute to innovative projects across a wide range of industries.

As a Mechanical Designer, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical systems for:

    Healthcare facilities
  • Corporate headquarters
  • Laboratories
  • Museums
  • Government buildings
  • Higher education campuses
  • Infrastructure projects

You'll be involved in all phases of design, from concept through construction, ensuring high-performance and sustainable solutions.



In this role you will:

  1. work under the guidance of the Project Engineer in the design and documentation of project solutions and construction documents with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and constructability;
  2. perform mechanical engineering design calculations;
  3. research code issues and works with City, State and County officials;
  4. analyze reports, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work;
  5. interact and communicate effectively and professionally with other team members;
  6. maintain, organize and archive all project related documents; and
  7. perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned


You will need to have:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Ability to obtain PE registration in the future preferred
  • 2+ years' experience required
  • Proficiency with Revit software and excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite essential
  • Familiarity with mechanical analysis software (i.e., Trane Trace, IES-VE, manufacturer equipment selection software)
  • Knowledge of current sustainable technologies applicable to mechanical systems design
  • LEED AP and/or member of professional societies (ASHRAE, ASPE, USGBC, CPD) helpful.


Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $65,700 - $76,300
