Job Highlights
The Strategic Buyer will work to create a competitive advantage and limit exposure for LANXESS through the strategic sourcing of Technical Procurement. To contribute to the overall success of LANXESS, candidate must:
- Collaborate with business units and group functions to identify opportunities to develop and implement strategic initiatives that result in significant cost reduction.
- Analyze spend data across sites to identify sourcing opportunities which could benefit these internal customers.
- Liaise with global category procurement teams and site procurement team to identify sourcing synergies.
- Fully understand the business unit or group functions requirements in order to effectively negotiate appropriate contract terms, conditions and pricing.
- Work with internal customers to identify associated services which can be entered as a framework contract thereby enhancing automation.
- Negotiate terms and conditions which limit LANXESS' financial and legal risks and are enforceable under the applicable law of contract.
- Resolve problems dealing with interpretation of existing contracts which may have significant financial impact (i.e. meet/release conditions, tier discounts, price formula analysis).
- Ensure that operational procurement support of the business units or group functions is such that all required products and services are of an acceptable quality, in the correct quantity and are delivered in a timely manner.
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or Business Administration; or 5+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and tendering processes, with a solid understanding of management principles to organize information, resolve disputes, and interpret internal customer requirements.
- Proven ability to identify and select suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, and manage purchase orders effectively.
- Experience supporting procurement activities, ensuring efficient acquisition of technical goods and services.
- Skilled in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy in bids and proposals.
- Proficient in conducting market research to identify trends and strengthen supplier relationships.
