Position Highlights

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a 0.5 FTE Lecturer position, with an anticipated start date of Spring 2026. We are seeking an exceptional educator with a strong background in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Software Engineering (SFWE) who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and curriculum development. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and quality of the CSE and SFWE programs, and support the broader mission of the University through outstanding teaching and service. Applicants should be prepared to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in a variety of delivery formats, including in-person, online, and interactive video.

This teaching role supports the department's three degree programs: Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Software Engineering (SFWE). The potential assignments include but are not limited to:

  • ECE 101 - Programming I
  • ECE 201 - Programming II
  • SFWE 101 - Introduction to Software Engineering
  • SFWE 301 - Software Requirements Analysis and Test

These courses are offered regularly and often serve large student cohorts.

Lecturers typically teach 1-3 classes per semester. There may be a service component to the selected candidate's duties/responsibilities. There is a possible future promotion path through three ranks - Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Principal Lecturer.

The ECE Department is nationally ranked among the top 20 public university programs and is experiencing significant growth. As part of this expansion, the department has introduced two new academic degree programs - Computer Science and Engineering and Software Engineering - to complement its longstanding Electrical and Computer Engineering program.

This is a career-track (non-tenure eligible) faculty position. The successful candidate will be required to work in person at our main campus location in Tucson, Arizona.

Review of applications will begin September 15, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
