Director of Accounting & Financial Operations
Your spreadsheets are your canvas. Your journal entries? Masterpieces. If you're passionate about accounting beyond the numbers-building great teams, creating smarter systems, and shaping financial strategies that actually matter-then this is your spotlight moment. We're on the hunt for a strategic, savvy, and people-first leader to guide our accounting operations at UH. This role isn't just about closing the books (though you'll do that flawlessly). It's about optimizing workflows, mentoring a talented team, keeping compliance rock-solid, and turning financial data into actionable insights that help senior leadership drive smart decisions.
What You'll Be Rockin' On the Daily:
Lead, develop, and inspire our accounting team-think coach, mentor, and strategy partner. Ensure revenue and expenses move through the right channels with approvals that make sense and systems that just work. Oversee budget development, monthly financial reporting, and ensure everything aligns with GAAP (because we like things accurate and above board). Review journal entries and account reconciliations like a financial detective-nothing gets past you. Spot material variances and financial trends like a hawk, and keep Executive Leadership in the loop with data-driven insights. Leverage financial analytics to support strategic decision-making (aka: help turn ideas into action). Coordinate "Prepared by Client" (PBC) schedules and our annual 990 tax return (yes, it's as fun as it sounds). Monitor multiple financial systems to keep everything squeaky clean and audit-ready. Implement smart, streamlined processes-because time is money, and you know how to save both.
You're a Fit If You Have:
A Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or a Bachelor's + some serious experience to match) 5-7 years of hands-on finance operations experience, including 3+ years leading teams Solid working knowledge of GAAP, accounting systems, financial reporting, and reconciliations Superpowers in analytical thinking, complex problem-solving, and turning chaos into clarity Comfort leading in a collaborative, participatory environment-you value input, build strong cross-functional relationships, and know how to get things done with influence, not just authority Excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt on the fly Top-tier attention to detail (the kind that auditors and CFOs dream about) Strong judgment, people skills, and leadership presence-when you talk, people listen Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (you could probably write a book on VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and dynamic dashboards) Bonus: Experience in healthcare finance or understanding of healthcare delivery models
Why You'll Love It Here:
Your voice matters-this is a strategic seat at the table, not a back-office number-pusher role You'll help shape financial operations across the organization and make real impact We invest in our people and culture-we want you to grow, thrive, and enjoy the ride You'll work with smart, driven professionals who care about the mission as much as the margin
Ready to lead with insight, integrity, and innovation? Apply now and take your accounting career to the next level-where strategy meets purpose.
