Director, Structured Products Analyst - SLC Management

What is in it for you:
Our public fixed income investment team is comprised of more than 70 investment professionals, and they have been managing structured products for over 25 years with currently CA $25.8 billion of assets under management across multiple portfolios and strategies.

As a key member of the Portfolio Management Team, this Director will focus on Commercial Mortgage -Backed Securities (CMBS), providing credit analysis, surveillance, and relative value assessments across new issue and secondary markets. They will analyze and recommend (verbal & written) structured product investments in a manner consistent with our investment processes, as well as our rating methodologies and procedures. They will also research and analyze market levels, trading activity, and security fundamental valuations.

What you will do:

  • The Director will communicate effectively across the organization to develop and maintain close relationships with portfolio managers, traders, other research analysts to review investment opportunities and provide market updates.
  • Utilize analytical skills to leverage existing portfolio management systems and third-party surveillance tools to provide timely updates, opinions of value and engage portfolio managers on potential transaction opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with the investment banking community and active issuers to deepen research relationships and acquire advancement knowledge with the goal of improving ideas and access to investments.
  • Recommend individual and/or sector investments with an owner's mindset and consistency putting the interests of our clients first.
  • Support growth by working on prospective client portfolio reviews, finals presentations, etc.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 4+ years of Analyst and/or market experience
  • MBA, CFA or candidacy a plus
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Structured Products, ~ CMBS, ABS or MBS.
  • SQL programming or Python experience preferred

Preferred skills:

  • Self-motivated and self-directed, effectively manage and coordinate multiple projects and tasks under strict deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of the need for precision when trading
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • A collaborative work style and positive attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, Aladdin, as well as fixed income technologies specific to structured products (Trepp, Intex)
  • The ability to remain calm and objective in the face of periods of excessive optimism or extreme pessimism in the capital markets.
  • For US applicants the base salary range is $105K - $171K
