Position Overview

Position Summary

The Campus Life Coordinator performs tasks and provides high-level planning, organizing and delivery of extra-curricular programs for all ENMU students. The coordinator enhances student development and engagement through events and programming. This position helps to develop and sustain collegial relations with college faculty and staff to positively impact student engagement and leadership.




Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email.
  • Represents the College to prospective students and assists with institutional recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Mentors and co-supervise student leaders and workers, providing feedback as needed and each term on their performance.
  • Assist with identifying and coordinating programming and leadership development with all students.
  • Develops and implements educational outreach programs focused on responsible citizenship, ethical development and making healthy choices.
  • Creates materials for marketing events; ensures communication with students, faculty, staff and the community to ensure events are being noticed.
  • Assists in preparing and editing student flyers, posters, literature and other materials prepared by student groups for on and off-campus distribution.
  • Implements and oversees processes for posting/distributing of materials on campus as requested.
  • Assists with ensuring accurate information about events is communicated to the Student Life and Leadership team, Marketing and Communications team, Information Center, Webmaster, in the portal, and other places on campus.
  • Promotes, organizes, and coordinates campus special events such as Dawg Days, organizational fairs, homecoming week, blood drives, movie nights, and other activities.
  • Assists with event planning for SGA and clubs on their campus and college wide as needed.
  • Encourages advisors to have their clubs/organizations participate in appropriate activities/competitions.
  • Maintains an updated student activity calendar and social media presence to include schedules of student workshops, on and off campus student activities and community events where the College is being represented.
  • Responsible for administrative business operations including but not limited to, payroll, budget, scheduling, and billing.
  • Processes all paperwork needed for events and activities including activity forms, vendor packets and contracts, as necessary.
  • Monitors campus student clubs/organizations' budgets and processes necessary paperwork.
  • Reviews and facilitates all student travel documents for student clubs as needed.
  • Assists with updating theStudent Activities Handbook, and all publications for the department.
  • Maintains accurate records of all Student Activities events and Student Government Association activities (including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and evaluations).
  • Coordinates campus volunteer programs, maintains accurate records of all volunteer programs that ENMU student organizations sponsor, co-sponsor, and/or participate in on behalf of the College.
  • Coordinate and/or supervise additional late night and weekend programs.
  • Assists in managing all aspects of the Campus Union Building operations such as room scheduling, renting, operations, and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate Safe Ride transportation requests, outside of standard weekend hours.
  • Maintains and regularly publishes an up-to-date calendar of activities and events.
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces assigned.
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects assigned in support of the College's mission, core values and goals.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least six months of related experience.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of conflict mediation and understanding of student conduct issues.
  • Knowledge of student development practices and strategies.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources, student life and support services.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to develop objectives, evaluate effectiveness and assess needs.
  • Preference for bilingual speaker (Spanish-English).
  • Knowledge of social media use and application.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in a variety of Windows-based computer programs relative to performing responsibilities, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Assist student groups with understanding and adhering to campus advertising guidelines and enforce campus posting policy including reviewing and approving student postings.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse workforce, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities, and socioeconomic levels.
  • Provide clerical support such as reception, hospitality, correspondence, phones, mailings, website and portal maintenance, photocopying, and calendaring.
  • Process invoices/purchase orders, track account and budget status and office supplies.



Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature and at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, especially when it comes to setting up and tearing down for events. Evening and weekend work required for programming needs.
