Duke Nursing Highlights:
Provide overall direction and leadership for assi gned clinical areason a 24 hour basis; ensure the effective administrati ve management ofclinical functions related to personnel and policy in or der to meet themission of patient care, education and research within a fiscallyresponsible organization. Work Performed Dir ect and coordinate work of designated employees, manage personnelactivit ies to meet CSU/Departmental, Hospital and Health Systemobjectives relat ed to the provision of patient care within designatedclinical areas.In c ollaboration with other administrativeleadership, develop strategic and operational plan for assignedclinical area(s). Communicate plans and con tinuously evaluate plans.Develop and communicate vision for unit care de livery modelsand facilitate ongoing refinement of such models.Providedev elopmental opportunities for direct reports.Serve asclinical operational liaison with administrative and professionalpersonnel concerning unit and/or departmental, Hospital and HealthSystem policies and procedures, p ersonnel administration and budgetarypreparation and control.Maintain in terface with departmentalpersonnel to coordinate clinical operational ac tivities to ensureadequate staffing, space and facilities, coordination of purchasing,maintenance and renovation activities for the operational areas,administer a program of property management and accountability.Det ermine and recommend necessary space, equipment, supplies andsupport sys tems to ensure effective functioning of unit/department.Ensure safe envi ronment of care for all staff, patients, andfamilies.Ensure effective pr ocesses for staff development,recruitment and retention.Develop and supp ort unit, sharedgovernance structure. Assure staff participation in depa rtmental andOrganizational Nursing Structures.Perform other related duti esincidental to the work described herein.
