General Accountant


Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities


  • Support the organization by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust accounting practices and adhering to GAAP and FAR requirements.


  • Ensure monthly-end closing activities are completed accurately and on-time.
  • Post journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure chart of accounts (natural accounts & departments) are updated and aligned with Marotta's business requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and propose enhancement of the existing accounting life cycles.


  • Reconcile, adjust and maintain Balance Sheet Account analysis including cash & investments, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll/benefits and other accrued liabilities.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of cash transactions.
  • Verify that bank transactions have been approved and are accurate.
  • Assist with audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies , procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the management of the debt portfolio, including monitoring covenants and compliance.
  • Assist and back up for general accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Accounts Payable, Treasury functions.


  • Prepare and review month-end financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Prepare and report departmental expenses including the recording of accrual/reclasses and oversight of prepaids.
  • Assist the external tax team in financial data requirement needed for federal and state filings.
  • Act as primary liaison with insurance provider to ensure all coverage is accurate and facilitate communication regarding claims, renewals, COI and policy changes.


  • Assist with accounting responsibility associated with other accounting entities



Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with minimum of 3 yrs. work experience
  • Transactional accounting experience, including account analysis, reconciliations and month-end closing processes
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Attention to details a must
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • ERP systems experience
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills required
  • Must be a US Citizen



This position is at our Parsippany, NJ corporate offices location.


Pay Range : $82,000 - $95,000/year

Your level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, internal consistency, and experience.
