Koch Ag & Energy Solutions is seeking a motivated Process Controls Intern to join our team! This internship is ideal for students who want hands-on experience in automation, process optimization, and plant technology while working alongside experienced engineers and operators.

You'll learn how control systems keep a large-scale manufacturing facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably - and you'll have opportunities to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

What You Will Do

As an intern in this role, you will:

  • Assist with development, support, and maintenance of automated process control applications that enhance plant performance.
  • Help monitor and troubleshoot process control hardware (workstations, servers, instrumentation).
  • Participate in control scheme reviews and assist with updating documentation.
  • Shadow engineers and operators to understand DCS (Distributed Control System) functions and safety instrumented systems.
  • Support process improvement projects, from data collection to implementation.
  • Learn how to conduct root cause analysis of process control issues and explore solutions.
  • Participate in training sessions on control concepts and plant operations.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 4 year college program, 2 year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Coursework or experience with process control systems, automation, or instrumentation.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Instrumentation & Electrical Technology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with DCS systems (e.g., Emerson DeltaV).
  • Interest in chemical manufacturing or large-scale industrial processes.
