At Koch Ag & Energy Solutions (KAES), The Equipment Capabilities Team supports the KAES manufacturing and terminal facilities in running a safe and reliable business. The team has diverse capabilities in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, chemical engineering, project engineering, equipment condition assessment and nondestructive testing, and welding.

What You Will Do

The Equipment Capabilities Team are hiring 2 Summer 2026 Engineering Interns in Wichita, KS:

  • 1 Mechanical Engineering Intern: The opportunities will be in fixed equipment (e.g., heat exchangers, vessels, fired equipment) or rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, steam turbines, compressors)
  • 1 Electrical Engineer Intern: The opportunities will be in electrical power equipment, instrumentation, or analyzers.

The focus of this summer role will align the intern's unique capabilities & interests with challenging technical problems to drive business results such as:

  • Learn about the ammonia value chain and the technical & business aspects of how we safely and reliably produce fertilizer products for our customers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, and other engineering disciplines to identify and address equipment-related challenges
  • Research and develop proposed solutions to technical issues/opportunities that are present across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Travel to and visit with site personnel to fully understand the technical issues/opportunities
  • Solicit ideas and suggestions for potential solutions from those closest to the issues/opportunities
  • Develop a plan, gain approvals, and begin to implement the proposed solutions
  • Receive guidance and support from experienced engineering mentors to gain insights into industry best practices

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 4 year college program, 2 year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2027.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Ability to climb up to 150 ft above ground level on occasion
  • For ME's: Ability to make confined space entry on occasion
