Job Title: Cable Technician Location: New Albany Hours: 6:30 AM - 7 PM Schedule: 7 days a week - 12 hour days Top Skills Required: * Termination of CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks * Closet construction and setup * Troubleshooting and cable testing Preferred Skills: * Cable installation * Structured cabling * Punch down techniques * CAT5/CAT6 experience Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our team. This role involves performing advanced cable installation tasks and leading small teams of installers. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with quality standards. Key Responsibilities: * Install work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls, including termination of CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mounting faceplates, and surface boxes per labeling standards. * Build and configure telecom closets: mount backboards, racks, patch panels, fiber optics, and related hardware. * Install grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cables. * Perform IDC connections including termination of 110/66 blocks and patch panels. * Conduct cable testing: continuity tests, troubleshooting for opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs using tone sets and volt-ohmmeters. * Identify active voice and data circuits. * Lead and coordinate installation crews, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety and quality standards. * Accurately complete all required documentation including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, and change orders. * Comply with all company, customer, and industry safety and quality regulations. * Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements: * Self-motivated, professional, and team-oriented. * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. * Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. * Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. * Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and moving up to 75 lbs. * Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. * Willingness to travel within the branch or regional territory. * Regular and reliable attendance is essential. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
