Working independently and under general supervision from the Principal Investigator, provides support to clinical and social science research studies. May be responsible for the following activities: making independent judgment of suitability of potential subjects for study participation, developing and implementing recruitment strategies, recommending changes to protocols, and overseeing the work of more entry level staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary Educational and Scientific Duties: 1. Coordinates curriculum development for an online didactic curriculum in family planning capacity-building with a national audience. 2. Identifies and synthesizes existing gold-standard didactic materials and creates new content to supplement. 3. Oversees operation of the course including participant recruitment, session preparation, faculty engagement, and scheduling. 4. Oversees evaluation of the course's impact including supporting the PI in designing assessment materials and conducting data collection. 5. Performs literature searches, as appropriate. 6. Assists with qualitative and quantitative data analysis. 7. Assists PI with preparation for conference presentations and written published articles. 8. Assists PI in identifying funding opportunities, applying for grants. Primary Administrative Duties: 1. Manages all grant budgets for the Janiak Research Program, including salary planning for the PI and research staff. 2. Directs QA activities related to human subject's research compliance (IRB application oversight, auditing of processes and materials, coordination of Electronic Lab Notebook compliance). 3. Coordinates purchasing (infrastructure and supplies) for the Program with departmental administration. 4. Coordinates engagement of external contractors as needed. 5. In conjunction with the Principal Investigator, develops and implements new research protocols including design, data collection systems, and institutional review board approval. 6. Responsible for training and orienting new staff. 7. Serves as a liaison to external collaborators for financial and IRB matters. 8. Maintains website for specific programs/initiatives within the lab, as well as the overall lab website, in collaboration with web designers/administrators. Primary Management Duties: 1. Supervises the overall operation and smooth functioning of the research program, including delegating tasks and responsibilities to other members 2. Interviews candidates, reviews resumes and CVs 3. Reviews and writes job descriptions for open positions 4. Carries out annual performance evaluation of the research assistant staff 5. Trains and independently supervises research staff, student interns, sponsored staff, and volunteers in specific procedures 6. Supervises, teaches, and advises all members on established protocol and data analysis. 7. Oversees all purchase order requisitions by other members, prepares special orders, web orders, check requests, and expense reports. 8. Works independently to resolve billing disputes between vendors and Accounts Payable 9. All other duties as assigned SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: * Ability to work independently. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results (quantitative and qualitative). * Knowledge of how to comply with clinical and social science research protocols. * High degree of computer literacy. * Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks. * Careful attention to detail. * Ability to demonstrate professionalism, cultural humility, and respect for subjects' rights and individual needs. * Ability to supervise research assistants and coordinate project contributions across diverse teams. This is a one year termed position with the possibility to extend contingent on funding availability.
