Job Description

RRD has an immediate opening for a Night Shift Bindery Supervisor to join our team in Chanhassen, MN!

Hours -Front Half Nights (M, T, W, and every other Thursday), 7PM - 7AM

Job Summary

Supervises, directs, develops and trains our team of employees in our bindery department. Uses sound management principles and techniques to assess and develop talent, skills, and processes with a major focus on cross training.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise bindery department employees, temporary laborers, and personnel from other departments on temporary assignment in the bindery. Work with the Pressroom Supervisor and others to share personnel and cooperatively assign tasks that best resolve top priority jobs.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all manufacturing processes. Be familiar with ISO and cGMP standards. Understand best practices, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Direct and educate employees on the best management, maintenance, and efficient operation of folders, cutters, stitchers, and other commonly used bindery and mailing equipment.
  • Be the standard for a safe working environment. Know, grow, and apply safety knowledge daily. Coach and correct out of compliance staff.
  • Effectively plan and schedule workflow through the department and modify schedules as needed in accordance with business needs.
  • Ensure departmental goals, including safety, quality, continuous improvement, and KPIs are established and met.
  • Administer policies and procedures and recommend changes as necessary. Follow positive employee relations practices. Select and recommend candidates for hire, promotion, recognition, disciplinary action, and/or termination while keeping appropriate documentation.
  • Senior facility manager and point of contact during night hours. Must be able to facilitate human resources, safety, security, emergency response, technology, and maintenance tasks as they arise. Collaborate with the Pressroom Supervisor continuously to achieve this effort.
  • Track and control department expenditures and labor costs to ensure compliance with job planning and department budgets. Provide reporting and analysis to management.
  • Troubleshoot processes when necessary. Work with team members to resolve and request other resources as necessary.
  • Promote a positive work environment, sound training programs, and adherence to work instructions and procedures.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy of work performed and the timely shipment of product.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum: High School or GED
  • Preferred: 4 year / Bachelors Degree

Skills and Certifications

    • Must have the ability and willingness to work multiple shifts, including nights.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people and direct work activities
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.

Travel Requirement

  • Possible travel to R.R. Donnelley Corporate or other facilities.

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $73,200 to $114,300 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future.At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
