Position Title: Medical Record Clerk Lead

Location: San Antonio, TX

Division: Advancia Government Services

Position Summary

The Medical Record Clerk Lead shall provide clerical and administrative support to the Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS). This support will reside in HQ AFAC and remotely in support of the 65 MEPS locations. The Lead will be responsible for overseeing personnel assigned to both HQ AFAC and remote personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise onsite and remote medical record clerks

  • Report directly to the CPM and collaborate with daily operations

  • Disseminate all pertinent information and training to all employees

  • Ensure the information is acknowledged and acted upon

  • Medical Record Clerk duties to include:

    • Relay general instructions to patients or make referrals to other MEPS sections

    • Obtain updates and file medical records as needed

    • Organize and research patient records, extract needed information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines

    • Ensure arrival of medical records prior to appointments

    • Initiate and locate patient medical records as needed

    • Obtain documentation as requested by healthcare providers, such as test results or documentation not yet filed in records

    • Perform other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support

Education & Experience Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Certification in medical assisting or records highly preferred

  • 3+ years' experience in a medical clerical or administrative support setting

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a lead or supervisory role

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software systems

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to manage time and tasks independently

  • Ability to complete all required government training

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • Some walking and standing required. You may have to lift and carry equipment (i.e. books, tools) weighing approximately 10-15 pounds.

  • Most of the work is done indoors.

  • Work in the occupation involves making repetitive motions more than 1/3 of the time

  • Requires standing for periodically
