Electrical Designer III Location: Greenwood Village, CO - Hybrid Work Schedule CLP Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer III to join our engineering team. The Electrical Designer III will assist in design of various electrical projects, including the development of electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, power distribution systems, lighting systems, protection and control schemes, as well as site and facility design CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish electrical CAD configurations and procedures at the outset of each project to align with project requirements and support the electrical design team
- Prepare engineering drawings using CAD software based on rough sketches, verbal instructions, and general engineering or design information.
- Complete and review design drawings in accordance with project scope, budget, and schedule. Execute assigned tasks within allocated hours and meet established deadlines.
- Apply applicable design codes and specifications to meet project requirements, with working knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code), NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), and RUS (Rural Utilities Service) standards.
- Generate one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control drawings, and basic schematic drawings.
- Ability to size conductors based on load and breaker requirements and develop switch gear layouts.
- Capable of laying out and routing of conduit, cable tray, duct banks, and grounding grids.
- Ability to generate duct bank sections in accordance with conduit requirements.
- Develop base circuit designs, including switch and receptacle locations and circuit sizing.
- Create bill of materials (BOMs) for all components associated with the various electrical system
- Ability to generate manhole/handhole schedule based on duct bank routing.
- Ability to perform lighting design, layout, and luminaire selection.
- Perform field verification of existing facilities.
- Interface successfully with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as required.
- Perform quality checks on drafted deliverables to ensure compliance with drawing production standards and project-specific CAD requirements.

- Associate degree in drafting, engineering technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8+) years' experience working in substation and/or distribution design.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Arc GIS, Bluebeam, PLS-CADD, Pole Foreman, and MS Office
- Bentley Substation, AutoDesk Inventor, and SDS (Substation Design Software) are preferred, but not required.
- Must have good working technical knowledge of other discipline interfaces.
- Ability to perform calculations to document design decisions.
- Working knowledge of electrical design and the interface between structural components and civil design.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and verify applicable electrical design criteria.
- Familiar with construction industry standards.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- You must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- Valid driver's license is required.

- Hourly payrate range: $35.00-$47.00 based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
