Come Join an Inclusive Team LyondellBasell is searching for a Laboratory Specialist for our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) manufacturing facility located in Matagorda, TX, 13 miles south of Bay City, TX. The Laboratory Specialist is accountable for providing both technical and operational expertise for the daily operation of the laboratory. The individual will troubleshoot laboratory issues, ensure the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, complete and assist in method development as well as the daily administration of the laboratory. The Laboratory Specialist will also assess training and developmental requirements of employees working within the lab, provide mentoring, play a pivotal role in improving lab operations, reduce lab costs, and implement quality control instrumentation to enhance unit reliability. This individual will provide leadership and optimization for laboratory resources. A Day in the Life: Serve as the primary contact point for Operations, Technical, Quality, Marketing and Technical Services for laboratory issues Implement and maintain laboratory compliance to Operational Excellence, ISO 9001, and other quality standards Ensure that procedures are developed and maintained for the lab Responsible for maintaining the LIMS configuration and implementation Assure the accuracy of the data generated by the lab technicians Manage the Final Product data processes through SAP to ensure that products can be shipped Manage the fixed cost spending for the lab including service contracts, purchasing materials and maintaining equipment Responsible for integrating new instrumentation by validating equipment, training materials and test methods Lead the development of sample schedules for Test Runs, including special testing Mentor and coach the lab day staff to set testing priorities, improve decision making and optimize troubleshooting Train and develop the shift lab technicians Serve as a lab resource for internal and external teams Effectively communicate with others within the company and Site Management Manage lab staffing based on testing needs and availability of personnel You Bring This Value : High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 10 years related experience in the petrochemical industry; polymer laboratory experience is preferred Strong communication, initiative, work planning, problem solving and leadership skills and ability to work with various levels of the organization and different departments Ability to understand and properly use work tools and processes such as LIMS, SAP, IP21 and Microsoft Office products Strong personal leadership skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Competencies Build Partnerships Deliver Results Drive Innovation Grow Capabilities Promote Inclusion Motivational Fit Technical Skills Privacy Statement: For information regarding how LyondellBasell processes your personal data, please read ourPrivacy Statement Stay Connected!
