Position Summary
The Center for Global Health and Infectious Disease in the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full time Research Assistant for the Center for AIDS Research of the UNC-CH School of Medicine. This position will provide support for HIV research by having primary responsibility for data collection and management, medical chart abstraction, data entry into a computerized data entry instrument, and administering surveys to patients.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Applicant must have excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Computer experience and skills with email. Knowledge of MS Office applications such as MS Excel and MS Access is required. Previous data entry experience required.

Ability to observe, collect, and record a variety of data/information, within well-defined research parameters. Ability to document data/information collected. Ability to use established data/information systems, functions, and/or procedures to collect and store data/information. Ability to review data and information or completeness an accuracy within well-defined research parameters.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
All ideal candidates will have an ability to meticulously perform medical record data abstraction and entry, maintain a high level of organization, and work independently. Candidates also will have familiarity with HIV medical care and medical terminology and a college degree.

Experience working with individuals living with HIV is desired. Experience with chart abstractions and administering surveys to patients is highly desired. Bilingual (Spanish) ability is a plus.
