RN Surgical

Vascular Surgery

St. Matthews area

Full Time/First Shift

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes and documents initial and ongoing patient assessments based on population served

  • Pre/Post Op nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery

  • Establishes specific, realistic and measurable goals.

  • Develops an individualized plan of care/education for each patient/family upon admission.

  • Initiates and participates in transitions of care in collaboration with hospital and community resources.

  • Collaborates with inter-professional team and updates plan appropriately.

  • Implements nursing actions in a safe, timely manner.

  • Utilizes appropriate technology to provide safe care.

  • Exercises clinical reasoning in care delivery.

  • Implements physician orders in a timely manner.

  • Manages emergency situations appropriately.

  • Implements patient and family education plan.

  • Practices safe medication handling and administration.

  • Collaborates with the inter-professional team.

  • Prep patients for procedure

  • Set up room for sterile procedures

  • Monitor patients during procedure

  • Assist Surgeon during sterile procedure

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree - ASN required

  • RN surgical experience preferred

  • RN License required

  • BLS required

  • If no surgical experience, RN will need to take peri-op 101 course within 8 weeks (60 days) post hire. Required.
