The Child Health Policy Research Director is a technical
leader with deep expertise in the field and recognized knowledge in specific
areas. This role requires independent problem-solving, often addressing complex
and unprecedented challenges. The Director manages a moderately sized academic
or research program, overseeing operations including administration, finance,
human resources, and facilities. They design and implement major program
components, support strategic planning with faculty, and organize conferences
and public forums. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator,
the Director helps shape the center's agenda, goals, and funding strategy.

The position includes supervising professional and
technical staff, advising leadership, and interpreting policies related to
fiscal management, contracts and grants, and resource planning. The Director
ensures accountability and efficient use of resources, aligning day-to-day
operations with departmental goals. They lead or contribute to complex
projects, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and provide
direction within established policies and organizational guidance.

This is a 12-month contract position that may be converted to career.

Salary Range: $102,500.00 - $227,700.00 Annually

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent
    experience/training.
  • Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, MD, etc.)and/or equivalent
    experience/training.
  • Academic background and experience in selected area of
    research.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human
    resources and financial principles and practices.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written
    communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising,
    and counseling to effectively motivate others.
  • Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on
    concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
  • Highly skilled fundraising experience including extramural
    grants.
  • Solid knowledge of common organizational or
    research-specific computer application programs.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis
    techniques.
  • Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR
    administration.

Preferred:

  • Experience in an academic environment at an institution of
    higher learning
