The Opportunity

This position assists with the day-to-day operations of the Intramural Sports program and supports special events. Responsibilities include scheduling teams, supervising events, and handling facility setup and breakdown. This position will also help train, supervise, schedule and evaluate officials. Additional duties will also include marketing and promotion, such as managing social media and creating flyers, to help increase program engagement.

Primary Job Functions, Duties, or Accountabilities:

- Organize and supervise intramural leagues, tournaments, and special events.
- Oversee event setup and breakdown, ensuring facilities and equipment are ready and safe.
- Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate intramural officials.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to officials to ensure quality officiating.
- Maintain accurate participation and event records.
- Ensure rules, safety protocols, and sportsmanship standards are followed at all events.
- Address on-site issues or conflicts promptly and professionally.
- Deliver excellent customer service and foster a positive environment for all participants.

This is an unpaid, educational internship and does not include University benefits. However, interns receive a $23,520 stipend (paid bi-weekly over 10 months) to help with living expenses, along with an optional meal plan of 112 meals per semester (valued at $1,528/semester).

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Area of study: Sports Management, or related Area of Study
  • Valid driver's license

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications
