Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for the process design, implementation, training, monitoring and improvement of our flat glass Tempering, Insulation and Lamination product lines. A successful PE-I will create clear and concise work instructions and assist Value Stream Leadership in training, coaching and improving processes from BOM creation through delivery to the end customer. A PE-I will also be the subject matter expert on machine controls, set-up and troubleshooting.

Essential Functions

  1. Standard 40-hour workweek (overtime as necessary).
  2. Serve as Capability Expert for Design and Sales teams, frequently answering questions on capability, process times and technical questions.
  3. Develops and Maintains equipment service programs, spare parts inventory and logs of changes to equipment and processes.
  4. Proficient at Autocad and/or Solidworks. Capable of maintaining product line lay-out, design changes and additions.
  5. Maintains time studies, staffing matrices, and labor cost models for associated product lines
  6. Responsible for training and certification programs for associated product lines.
  7. Responsible for team member certification testing (Comprehension validation)
  8. Maintains a library of product test data and compliance certification. Frequently stress tests process for compliance and adherence to regulatory standards.
  9. Answers off hours production calls and requests for remote troubleshooting, machine set-ups.
  10. Assists in organizing & standardizing product drawings for all areas of responsibility.
  11. Works closely with Quality Team Members on best practices, troubleshooting and internal auditing.
  12. Occasional travel to meet with customer installers, engineers and quality personnel on issue resolution, troubleshooting, best practice training.
  13. Must maintain a professional appearance and acumen during business hours.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility upon hiring, however, potential direct reports may be a possibility.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are decided by the hiring manager.

Travel

Travel would be minimal and primarily local during the business day.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Industrial Engineering Degree or Equivalent Engineering Experience and Track Record of Success
  2. Autocad and Solidworks proficiency
  3. Ability to work all hours/shifts with 7-day notice
  4. Fluent in English.
  5. College level verbal and written English communication skills,
  6. Advanced College Mathematics skills.
  7. Must be proficient in Autocad
  8. Proficiency in e-mail systems and MS office products.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills to deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors in a tactual, congenial, personal manner.

Preferred Education & Experience

  1. 5+ Years Manufacturing Experience
  2. Prior use of Microsoft ERP systems
  3. Strong Computer and Networking Experience
  4. Previous Experience in Machine communications, TCIP Communication & Ladder Logic
  5. Previous Experience in Manufacturing Processes with a high level of process automation

Environment

  1. 60% Plant - 40% Office
  2. Ability to perform in a high paced, moderately stress environment.
